Manchester United have reportedly taken pole position in the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich.
The Express is of the belief that the Red Devils have already agreed to pay Bayern's £18million asking fee for the Switzerland international who is struggling for game time under Pep Guardiola.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be very keen on former FC Basel ace Shaqiri but it appears as though United's Louis van Gaal is making the strongest move for the diminutive winger.
Shaqiri joined Bayern in February 2012 and has gone on to make 79 appearances in all competitions but just three Bundesliga starts this campaign.
