Manchester United remain in the boxseat for Desportivo Brasil striker Bruno Gomes. The young Brazilian has spent time at Carrington and was expected to move to United this season. But with rival interest arriving from Udinese, Gomes' future remains clouded.
Italian agent Nicola Giuliani, an expert on the Brazilian transfer market, has been following the situation closely and believes United remain favourites for the youngster.
He told tribalfootball.com: "I think Bruno Gomes is a very good player and both clubs work very well with their international scouting.
"Udinese usually try to find young players before other clubs so they do not pay too high a price. This so far has been a winning strategy.
"Now United is adopting the same strategy, but with a completely different budget."
Giuliani says for a young player like Gomes, both clubs offer great opportunities, but United's relationship with Desportivo Brasil could swing the deal in their favour.
"I believe there's very little to separate the two clubs as far as Gomes is concerned. But relationships could influence his choice, so United are clearly the favourite."
