Manchester United chiefs are unsure of their transfer plans this month as uncertainty continues to surround Louis van Gaal's position at the club.
According to the Daily Mirror, Old Trafford brass are concerned van Gaal may leave his post at the end of the season which is making them hesitant to spend up in the January transfer window.
The report suggest that the Red Devils have placed all of their main transfer targets on the back burner as they seek assurances from the Dutchman that he will see out the final year of his three-year deal.
It is believed that van Gaal is considering retiring at the culmination of the current campaign, or at least quitting United, prompting the famous club to shelve their plans to sign such players as Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.
