The Red Devils are closing in on a deal to loan left-back Williams to Ipswich Town.

However, a loan with an option to buy appears to be the best option that was on the table.

Williams, who did go on United's preseason tour of the United States, will get a chance to resurrect his career.

The defender has experienced several loan spells over the years, never quite showing his best qualities.

Ipswich, who are at the top of the Championship table, will be hoping that Williams can aid their promotion charge.
