Manchester United have approached Borussia Dortmund about opening talks over Ilkay Gundogan. Eliminated from the Champions League by Juventus last week and now 12 points away from the Bundesliga's top four, BVB are facing up to a season outside of Europe's elite competition.
Gundogan, with less than 18 months to run on his current deal, is reassessing his situation with BVB now entering a rebuilding phase.
BILD says United have made contact with the Germans about opening talks over a fee for the midfielder.
Gundogan has returned to his very best form since the New Year and earned a recall to the Germany squad last week.
