Man Utd ponder shock move for Fulham defender Hangeland

Manchester United are eyeing Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.

The People says United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on the big Norwegian defender, and he could even make a move for him in the January window.

That will depend on United's injury crisis at the back continuing - and whether or not Fulham decide to cash in on the player before he can leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Ferguson has lost Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones to lengthy spells on the sidelines. And with Jonny Evans suffering a dead leg in the victory over Cluj, United are now down to the bare bones.

At 31, Hangeland isn't young, but his Premier League experience means he should have no trouble slotting in at Old Trafford.
