Man Utd legend Pallister switches allegiance to Hull

Gary Pallister admits he will be barracking against Manchester United this weekend.

The former defender spent most of his Old Trafford career playing alongside Hull City boss Steve Bruce in central defence and is hoping his old mate is not relegated at the KC Stadium this Sunday.

"Obviously Brucey is a pal of mine and I would be gutted if he went down," Pallister told The Express.

"It's going to be strange. I'm going to the game as a fan and it's the one match of the season I won't be supporting United.

"I don't like to see United get beaten. I've seen enough defeats over the last two seasons to last me a lifetime. But let's face it, there is nothing at stake for them, that fourth spot is secure and whatever the result on Sunday that isn't going to change.

"I think a lot of United fans will probably share my feelings. Brucey was the captain of the club, he lifted trophies, played with his heart on his sleeve, gave everything he had for United, and the fans have always respected and acknowledged that.

"But Steve can't - and won't - expect any favours. United have got to do a professional job and go out and try and win the game. They have to do it right.

"Any time you put on that United shirt you have a duty to do your best for the club and they must honour the integrity of the competition."

18th-placed Hull require a win over United and hope that Newcastle United do not beat West Ham United if they want to avoid relegation.
