Man Utd legend Neville upset for Southampton losing stars

Manchester United legend Gary Neville is upset for Southampton fans over the dismantling of their squad.

Striker Rickie Lambert made a £4m switch to boyhood heroes Liverpool just before the World Cup and attacking midfielder Adam Lallana made the move to Anfield a few weeks later for £25m.

Left-back Luke Shaw made a £27m switch to Old Trafford and now fellow academy product Callum Chambers will join Arsenal for £12m.

Croatian defender Dejan Lovren is on the verge of a £20m transfer to join Lallana and Lambert at Anfield while Morgan Schneiderlin is interesting Arsenal and Tottenham.

Neville tweeted: "I thought Southampton would be raided and let 1-2 go and then dig in on the rest. It's a shame as they were good last year as a group.

"They do have a pipeline of good talent below and I hope they benefit as Shaw, Chambers and Lallana have."
