Manchester United have kicked off 2015 with victory in the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup in Germany.
After a 0-0 draw in the final with VfB Stuttgart in Sindelfingen, Joel Castro Pereira saved three of the Germans' spot-kicks to earn the six-a-side tournament's trophy.
The entire Under-19 competition was held over the weekend, with eight teams participating - four of which came from the host country. United and their fellow finalists were accompanied by Celtic, Schalke 04, Grasshopper Club Zurich, Fenerbahce, Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Having finished third in 2014's contest, the Reds overcame early disappointment against the Grasshoppers in this year's offering by beating Stuttgart and Schalke, before suffering defeat to Fenerbahce.
A win over Hoffenheim, followed by revenge against United's first opponents in the form of a 6-0 semi-final victory over Grasshoppers ensured a path to the final for the Reds, where skipper Pereira proved to be the hero and Joe Riley was awarded the Player of the Tournament prize afterwards.
