Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is proud of the way he's fought back from knee injury.
Speaking with El Pais, Valdes reflected on the setback suffered last season and admits he considered retiring.
"I knew I had snapped my knee, but I also knew that everything was going to be fine and it would not break me," he recalled.
Valdes suffered the injury playing against Celta Vigo.
"I knew from the beginning that I had broken it. Using my supporting leg I heard a rustling in the knee and I knew I had broken it.
"Others would have retired. I was close, but I have three children..."
Valdes is now competing with David de Gea at United to be No1.
"David is the best goalkeeper in the world right now for pure performance," he added.
