Victor Valdes has entered discussions with Espanyol as he seeks a return to Spain.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper will certainly leave Manchester United this summer after a disastrous spell at Old Trafford and according to Don Balon, he is likely to end up at Espanyol.
Preliminary negotiations have begun between the La Liga outfit and the former Barcelona gloveman regarding a free transfer when his contract with United expires this summer.
Valdes was sent to Standard Liege on loan in January but after eight appearances, including the Belgian Cup final win over Club Brugge in March, was sent back to United on the weekend as the Belgian outfit wanted to give more opportunities to their younger keepers.
The former Spain international is now set to head back to Catalonia provided he and Espanyol can agree to personal terms.
