Man Utd keeper Kuszczak: I know my chance will come

Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak is eager to show his worth tonight against Coventry City.

Tonight's Carling Cup tie will be the Pole's first appearance of the season and he told Manchester United Radio: "I'm really looking forward to playing. For me, the season only really starts now.

"This is a good opportunity to show everyone what I can do. I want to show people that I'm working hard and that I'm good enough to play for Manchester United."

The ex-West Brom star added: "Of course there is some frustration when you're always on the bench. Nobody likes sitting on the bench but I have to be patient and remain focussed. I need to train hard so I am ready for whenever I'm called upon.

"The season is long and we've got a lot of games. Last season proved how important it is to have a big squad and I know I'll get my chances."

The 25-year-old says he's hoping to follow Edwin van der Sar's lead and keep a clean sheet tonight, although he admits he won't mind too much if Coventry make a game of it.

"Usually it's better when you have nothing to do, but it's my first game back so I want to show everyone what I can do. I'd like to produce a few good saves but still keep a clean sheet. Another 2-0 result would be perfect."
