Manchester United are planning a long-term swoop for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Mail on Sunday says United plan to spoil Chelsea's Premier League preparations by agreeing a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Lewandowski next summer.
United have told the Bundesliga champions they are willing to pay £12million for Lewandowski in a year, allowing Dortmund to keep their star man for the upcoming Champions League campaign before cashing in when the 23-year-old Poland international has only a year left on his contract.
The big losers in such a deal would be Chelsea who are desperate to sign another class striker to provide competition for Fernando Torres and had Lewandowski top of their wishlist.
