Manchester United hero Andrei Kanchelskis has paid tribute to former teammate Eric Cantona.

Cantona joined United 20 years ago last week from Leeds United.

Kanchelskis wrote for manutd.com: "He was a big name in the French team but Eric had some problems with the France coaches and other problems with the clubs over there. But, when he played for Manchester United, there were no problems with us. Sir Alex Ferguson managed him perfectly.

"In my opinion, Eric was a little bit of a character but there was no better footballer here and he was the best player in Europe at the time.

"I think he is a great man and I was very happy to play in the same team as him because he was absolutely brilliant.

"The 1993/94 Double-winning side was a nice team that I particularly remember. Every player was brilliant and it was special to be a part of it."
