Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar believes Scottish football should put more energy into developing talent rather than attempting to restructure the competitions.
42-year old Dutch great van der Sar, now sporting director at Ajax, feels Scottish clubs need to focus on bringing through quality youngsters rather than worrying about the rearrangement of the Scottish Football League in order to improve the state of the game in Scotland.
"It's not too long ago that some of my Dutch team-mates played in the Scottish league," he told SunSport.
"It was a great opportunity to go there or to England.
"But the focus now has to be on the production of younger players and academies.
"You have to make sure you make better players, different to those being created now.
"If you invest five to ten years in getting those better players through the system, the standard of the league will rise automatically.
"People are talking about changes to the leagues, but if you start producing exciting players, the quality of the league will soon follow on."
