Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand is backing his former club's attempts to sign Morgan Schneiderlin.
United manager Louis van Gaal is currently in the market to sign a midfielder and it has been revealed that the Dutchman is in hot pursuit of Southampton star Schneiderlin.
The Red Devils still have not been able to agree a fee with Southampton for Schneiderlin but a transfer is eventually expected to be completed.
Crerand says he rates Schneiderlin very highly and has now backed the Red Devils to persist with their pursuit for the French international.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Crerand said: "He's a good player, he's a very good player in actual fact.
"I don't know what's going on with that transfer but you just get the idea it's a squabble over how much money Southampton really want."
