Man Utd great Butt in consideration for chief Academy role

Nicky Butt is in the frame to take charge of Manchester United's Academy.

According to the Daily Mail, the former Red Devils midfielder is being considered to replace Brian McClair who departed the role to take up the national performance director job with the Scottish Football Association.

Butt, 40, worked with Warren Joyce's U21s side last season and has recently been heavily involved with the Academy.

Club secretary John Alexander and John Murtough are heading the recruitment process for the vacant Carrington post.
