Wayne Rooney has made it vehemently clear that he was not knocked out by a Phil Bardsley punch.
The Manchester United and England captain was recently captured on video footage sparring with Sunderland defender Bardsley in the kitchen of his Cheshire home.
?A blow landed on the chin of Rooney who immediately fell back into the floor prompting many to suggest that he had been knocked unconscious by the hit.
?But the 29-year old has opened up about the incident in a pre-match press conference ahead of England's clash with Lithuania on Friday night, stating that he was fine and is not sorry about being involved.
?"To be honest, it wasn't a big issue with me," said Three Lions star Rooney.
"I was in a house with some friends. Obviously I was caught on the wrong end of a punch, but I wasn't knocked out like it was reported.
"Unfortunately the video stopped there.
"Obviously, I knew it was going into the newspaper and I spoke to the manager (Louis van Gaal).
"He didn't see it as a big issue. I didn't see it as a big issue myself. Other people obviously do.
"Obviously, I like boxing. I come from a boxing background. It happened.
"If I'd felt it was that wrong, I'd have apologised to the right people if I felt it was wrong."?
