Manchester United are chasing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Daily Mail says United are hoping their positive relationship with Southampton will pave the way for Schneiderlin's switch to Old Trafford.

The clubs have long been on good terms and last summer's relatively straightforward transfer of Luke Shaw left both sides happy.

One stumbling block, however, may be Louis van Gaal's relationship with former protege and current Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, but that is unlikely to be a significant enough to stop a deal which is expected to be worth around £25m.
