Man Utd encouraged as Atletico Madrid target Nunez has agents explore Prem move

Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is eager to find a move to England this summer.

The Mirror says that is certain to alert Manchester United who are looking for a new No.9 this summer and have got Nunez on their list of potential candidates.

But there could be a major sticking point in that Nunez wants Champions League football with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid also watching developments and United will not be in Europe's top competition.

Nunez's advisers believe his style could be well suited to English football and United have been monitoring developments in the hope the 22-year-old Uruguay international will prefer a Premier League switch.

So far no-one has come close to Benfica's valuation and the Portuguese giants have tied him down to a contract until 2025 with a £130m buy-out clause. The figure of around £70m is a more likely target with Benfica likely to be ready to sell at the right price.
