Man Utd derby hero Rooney: I did not play that well

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney admits his performance wasn't the best in victory over Manchester City.

Rooney's late winner is being hailed as the greatest goal seen at Old Trafford.

Rooney, deployed as a lone striker, with Dimitar Berbatov dropped to the bench, had struggled up to the point of scoring his spectacular winner. He even made a mistake, failing to control the ball, in the build-up to his winner.

He said: "To be honest, I wasn't too pleased with my overall performance but I spoke to a few of the lads and they just said "Stay up there, stay in the box and you'll get a chance". Thankfully I did that and I managed to put it away."
