Manchester United are delaying new contract talks for several senior players - including Robin van Persie. United are awaiting Louis van Gaal's instructions on whether they should award new contracts to David de Gea, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Van Persie, who will all have one year left on their contracts next summer, while Darren Fletcher is out of contract next summer, says the London Evening Standard.
Should Van Gaal wish to further strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, the club is prepared to take their spending beyond the £200million mark, having spent over £150m this summer.
