Man Utd defender Jones excited for busy pre-season

Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes the club are getting just the right amount of preparation ahead of the next Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils will play five matches in the US against Los Angeles Galaxy (July 15), Real Salt Lake (July 17), Manchester City (July 20), Real Madrid (July 23) and Barcelona (July 26).

Jose Mourinho's side will then play Norwegian side Valerenga on July 30, before they go up against Sampdoria on August 2 - ten days before their opening Premier League fixture against West ham.

But Jones believes the more matches United play, the better their fitness when the season begins.

"The more matches you play, the more match-fit you are and seven games will give everyone a chance to get minutes under their belts," Jones said on the club's official website.

"You need everyone at a good level for the start of the season."

"We know exactly what the manager expects from us and he knows the players inside and out.

"He'll have organised this pre-season period exactly how he wants it - when we'll train, when we'll rest and when we'll have commercial work to do.

"I'm sure it will be a great tour and I'm looking forward to it."
