Man Utd defender Ferdinand knows he is on brink of greatness

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand knows he could be on the brink of the best year of his career.

Ferdinand is chasing the Champions League, Premiership and World Cup in the coming months.

England skipper Ferdinand is heading towards the veteran stage and said: "It's all about legacy for me now. I just want to be remembered as a winner.

"When people talk about Rio Ferdinand, I want them to say, 'that guy won stuff, he was a natural winner and determined to reach his goals'.

"People remember players who have lifted the World Cup. They are never forgotten. I want to go down as one of the greatest players to ever do it.

"Now is the time to start shooting for greatness. Thankfully, I've started to accumulate things and it's about building on that now.

"The money doesn't result in greatness, only achievements do. I don't think about the trophies I've won. I always remember the defeats. That's just the way I am."
