Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has jumped to the defence of Arsenal's calamity ref Massimo Busacca.
The Swiss official rashly sent off Robin van Persie at the Nou Camp in a 3-1 defeat that sent the Gunners tumbling out 4-3 on aggregate.
Busacca also awarded Barcelona a penalty that was dispatched by Lionel Messi to seal the Spanish side's progression to the quarter-finals.
At the start of the match - before the controversies - Ferdinand wrote: "Tonights referee in the Barca vs Arsenal game is the best referee about for me."
And despite Busacca's subsequent decisions, Ferdinand stuck by him with another post. He Tweeted: "My comment about the referee was about an hour ago...before the red card....still the best referee for me, 1 decision doesn't change that."
