Manchester United remain confident of extending the contract of veteran midfielder Michael Carrick, according to reports from the Manchester Evening News.
Carrick's contract at United expires later this month and there is a lot of talk that the midfielder will be ending his decade-long association with the Red Devils.
However, new manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen on keeping Carrick at Old Trafford and according to reports, the club hierarchy is confident that the 34-year-old will put pen to paper on a one-year extension.
United legend Paddy Crerand suggested on MUTV this week that Carrick had indeed already signed a deal but that has not been confirmed by the club who are keen to see the experienced midfielder go around again.
