Man Utd confident £18M Clyne bid enough for Southampton

Manchester United are convinced they have an agreement for Southampton fullback Nathaniel Clyne.

United boss Louis van Gaal has made Clyne his No1 target to improve the club's right-back options.

The Sunday World says Van Gaal urged his transfer guru Ed Woodward to strike early in the transfer market this summer, with their offer for Clyne set to be accepted imminently by Southampton if the England full-back rejects a new contract offer.

Clyne is set for a showdown meeting with Saints boss Ronald Koeman in the next 48 hours, where he is expected to confirm that he will reject the new Saints deal he has been offered in a bid to seal a move to Old Trafford.

United have lodged an offer with Southampton for Clyne in the region of £18m, which would appear to be a good deal for a player with just one year left on his contract.
