Man Utd choose to delay Van Gaal announcement

Manchester United have decided to wait until the end of the season before naming Louis van Gaal as new manager.

The Mirror says United have decided to delay until next week the announcement of Van Gaal as their new boss.

Van Gaal has agreed a two-year deal with United - with the option of a third season - but confirmation of his appointment will not be made until after Sunday's final game of the season at Southampton.

United chiefs are keen to get this season out of the way before formally announcing Holland boss Van Gaal, 62, as David Moyes' permanent successor.

Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs is in charge until the end of the season and it is understood the 40-year-old will be handed a role under Van Gaal, although it is not clear whether that will be as his No.2 or as a first-team coach.
