Manchester United chief Ed Woodward felt they made the right stand in resisting offers from Chelsea for Wayne Rooney.
The 28 year-old is now playing out of his skin for United.
"The Rooney situation was another unique one. It was important that we made our position very clear," said Woodward.
"I am delighted he is still wearing red. He is irreplaceable and phenomenal to watch."
