Man Utd captain Fernandes insists Ten Hag rumours don't reach players

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes says rumours about manager Erik ten Hag's position doesn't affect the players.

Fernandes struck in their penalty shootout FA Cup semifinal win against Coventry City.

"That doesn't have to affect anyone because we have to focus on everything we have this season," Fernandes told the Manchester Evening News. "Because we still have chances to get in European positions in the league, we have to finish as high as possible, that's the main thing. And then we have an FA Cup final to play.

"So no one has to be worried because it's not our job to be worried with these things that come from the outside or from the inside or whatever. Because we have the owners who take care of that, we have the directors and then we players, it's about performing on the pitch and giving our best."

On Coventry's fight-back on Sunday, Fernandes continued: "It's like some moments, you can probably relax yourself for a little bit, not make the pressure as strong as you should, the game starts to get a little more split, more spaces. Sometimes we might have to get a little bit more deeper, be more compact to not give much space to them if we can press them.

"Obviously, I felt today the team had good moments, had good pressure that we could make pressure on them and make them have long balls. With Harry (Maguire) and Case(miro) at the back winning a lot of duels for us, it was better to press high than stay deep. But at the end, they got some lucky goals but at the same time, we have to give credit to them."
