Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Andreas Pereira is benefitting from going backwards in his career.
The Brazilian chose to move to Fulham in the summer, instead of fighting for his place at United.
While Pereira was at United since youth level, ten Hag believes that at times you have to go backwards to rediscover your best form and then move forward.
"He's a good player, I know him already a long time, I had him in the youth at PSV before he came here, I'm really happy for him he's progressing good," said Ten Hag to reporters, as United prepare to take on Fulham in the FA Cup quarter finals.
"He has to play a regular base, he didn't do it over several years at Manchester United, there comes a point you have to switch, take a step back to progress in the future."
