Manchester United boss David Moyes is expected to give Tottenham short shrift over their planned bid for Javier Hernandez.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add to his attacking options once the transfer reopens in January, with only Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe in his first-team plans.
Hernandez was lined up as a £15m transfer target, but Moyes declared: "We need Javier Hernandez; he's very good for us.
"He's scored a lot of goals over the last few years and continues to do so, so we'll continue to use him."
