Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't want to lose Edwin van der Sar at the end of the season.
Ferguson has confirmed he expects Van der Sar to announce his retirement, but is keen to keep him involved with the club.
The Sunday Express says Ferguson wants Van der Sar to become Manchester United's goalkeeping consultant.
The role could include scouting, with Van der Sar expected to return home to Holland next year.
