Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to keep hold of defender Rio Ferdinand.

The Sun says Ferguson said he expects Ferdinand to remain at United next season - even though he will be out of contract this summer.

The defender is expected to pen new terms at the end of this season.
