Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says his former Aberdeen centre-half Alex McLeish deserves more credit for the way he's led Birmingham City back to the Premiership.

He said: "They were in free fall when he first went there but he can have a better mentality about the job now after being in it for 18 months.

"He got them out of a hard league last season but the bigger problem is staying in the Premier League. The answer is to invest in the team."
