Man Utd, Arsenal waiting to pounce for Borussia Dortmund captain Hummels

Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Mats Hummels' situation at Borussia Dortmund.

The Daily Star says Dortmund's shambolic form this season has seen Hummels describe his team as pathetic and the defender is now happy to leave.

He had remained fiercely loyal to Dortmund but is now said to be resigned to leaving the Bundesliga club.

The German club are thought to want as much as £47m for the defender.

United are desperate to sign a defender in January and Hummels is a long-term target.

Arsenal are thought to be monitoring the situation closely and Arsene Wenger has already admitted he is in the market for a centre back when the window opens.
