A brace from Dimitar Berbatov and one from Wayne Rooney saw Manchester United comfortably win 3-0 against Aalborg in the Champions League. After the disappointment of an opening scoreless game against Villarreal, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson ensured a full strength line-up came away with all three points and now lead Group E.
There was even the bonus for United of £30m signing Berbatov opening his account for the Old Trafford outfit.
The only blot on a successful night for the defending Champions League winners were the injuries to Rooney and Scholes.
"I'm happy to get the three points but we missed a lot of chances in the game and we lost Paul Scholes and had a few injuries in the game including Rooney and Rafael, so we maybe paid the price for the victory," said the United chief.
"Nonetheless four points is were we want to be.
"Two fantastic goals (by Berbatov) will help his confidence for when you get transferred for that amount of money you want your first goal quickly."
