Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson could be back by Christmas.

Johnson could boost the Eastlands club by getting back in action by Christmas following a chronic groin injury.

"We are hopeful he will be back in a couple of weeks," said boss Mark Hughes. "It has been a long drawn-out situation for Michael.

"He is as frustrated as we are. Hopefully we are getting to the end of it and he will be available before Christmas."
