Man City will outstrip Man Utd in stadium rights revenue battle

Manchester United have been told they could earn £17million a year if they sold the naming rights to Old Trafford.

The Mirror says the study from valuation experts American Appraisal has revealed just how much money each Premier League club could expect to bring in if they were to follow the examples of Manchester City and Arsenal who are the only two sides to take the plunge and sell off stadium naming rights.

Whereas United would be in line for a £17million annual windfall, they would still lag behind local rivals Manchester City , whose earning power currently stands at £18million.

Despite this, United's earning potential is still more than £10million ahead of current Premier League leaders Arsenal, who are third on American Appraisal's list at £6.75million, ahead of Liverpool (£6.06million), Tottenham (£5.76million) and Chelsea (£5.45million).

If all Premier League sides were to sell their naming rights it would raise an extra £50million in revenue.
