Manchester City will have to splash in excess of £20million to secure the services of Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News reports that City are widely expected to undergo a mass overhaul during the upcoming summer and a host of players have already started being linked with the Citizens in recent weeks.

While City have the habit of splashing the cash to sign top players from around the world, they are said to be focusing on recruiting home grown talent this time around and have been linked with the likes of Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling.

Southampton star Rodriguez, who has missed the season with a knee injury, is another name mentioned as a priority signing for City but in order to land the 25-year old, the Premier League giants will reportedly have to splash more than £20million.
