Manchester City are ready to outbid Chelsea for Bolton Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka.

The Sun says City have told Reebok chiefs they will trump Chelsea's £10million offer by an extra £2m to get the Frenchman.

Blues remain favourites because Anelka wants to join a Champions League side.

Sven Goran Eriksson is due to unveil Nery Castillo today after snapping up the Mexican hotshot on a year-long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. And he believes Anelka can be tempted back to the club where he hit 38 goals in 89 games.
