Man City U21s thrash Man Utd 6-1 as starlet scores four

Manchester City thrashed Manchester United 6-1 in their U21 Premier League clash.

standout performance from Carlos Borges saw the City youngster score four in a 6-1 victory against United U21s at Leigh Sports Village.

After going behind early on to a Rhys Bennett header, the City youngsters rallied and showed no mercy in a second-half performance full of real quality.

Borges pulled City level just before the break with the winger adding a further three goals after the interval.

Dire Mebude and Will Dickson also found the back of the net as we returned to the top of the Premier League 2 table.

City coach Brian Barry-Murphy said: "I thought it was a high-intensity game, it was a good test and for a lot of the game I thought it was quite even.

“We had to show a real resolution and commitment to defend the goal and to be really aggressive out of possession.

“After we showed that commitment in the second half we got our rewards, which is very good for us because it shows the players what can be achieved if they work hard for each other.

“I think it is very good for the players to experience a derby game and the unique nature of it, being in a stadium with fans in is very good for the lads."
