Man City turn to Spurs defender Vertonghen

Manchester City are eyeing Tottenham's Bosman prospect Jan Vertonghen.

The Times says City boss Pep Guardiola has set his sights on the 33-year-old.

The Catalan views him as a short-term solution to his defensive issues at the Etihad.

Guardiola is believed to be plotting a major summer overhaul after their Champions League ban was overturned.

In a bid to beef up his defence, as many as three purchases could reportedly be made.

Vertonghen, who has been with Spurs since 2012, would bring bags of experience to the Etihad.

The 33-year-old made 231 Premier League appearances, including six goals and four assists.
