Manchester City have officially thrown in a £20million bid for Aston Villa midfielder James Milner.

Earlier this week there were reports that the Eastlands club were toying with the idea but Sky Sports has revealed that the bid has been received by Villa.

It is believed to be worth £20m initially but with add-ons and extras it could reach £25m which will test Villa's resolve as they are keen to keep the 24-year old World Cup hopeful.
