Stoke City are close to signing John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City.
BBC Radio Stoke reports that the Swedish striker will spend the remainder of the season with the Potters provided they can sign current loanee Stephen Ireland permanently from Aston Villa.
Liverpool's Oussama Assaidi is already on loan at the Britannia Stadium meaning the Potters would have to make Ireland a permanent fixture in order to bring Guidetti to the club.
Premier League rules state that one club can only have two players at loan at any one time.
