Man City still targeting £30m move Everton's Barkley

Manchester City are continuing to monitor Everton young gun Ross Barkley according to reports.

The Guardian has reported that the reigning Premier League champions are hoping to lure the highly-rated 20-year old midfielder to the Etihad Stadium next summer for £30million.

City are determined to sign the nine-time England international in order to fill their quote of homegrown players in their squad but they see him as a player who can immediately make an impact in Manuel Pellegrini's first team.

The Eastlands outfit were showing significant interest in Barkley during the summer transfer window but their valuation of the Toffees youth academy product did not match Everton's.

Currently sidelined with a knee injury, Barkley signed a lucrative four-year deal with the Merseyside club in July meaning it will take an enormous offer for them to allow him to leave Goodison Park next year or anytime in the near future.
