Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson will step up his bid to land a new goalkeeper next week.

The Guardian says Eriksson has allowed Nicky Weaver to leave and has reservations about the current No1, Andreas Isaksson, as well as the understudies, Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel.

Scott Carson is among those to be considered but Liverpool do not want to do business and Amelia is believed to be available from Livorno despite signing a five-year contract with the Serie A club last season.
