Man City spy cheaper Griezmann as Kane alternative

Manchester City are eyeing Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann.

Ok Diario says City see Griezmann as an alternative to Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The France attacker would be available for a lesser fee and City also know Barca are interested in several of their players, so setting up the prospect of a swap arrangement.

City manager Pep Guardiola recently met with Barca president Joan Laporta to discuss several of eachother's players.

Further strengthening City's hand is the need for Barca to make a major sale to help in negotiations to secure Lionel Messi to a new contract. Messi is currently a free agent as Barca seek to free up funds in order to secure the Argentine to a new deal.

Griezmann joined Barca two years ago from Atletico Madrid for a fee of €120m. The World Cup winner could be sacrificed by Laporta after the arrival of Sergio Aguero from Manchester City on a free transfer.
