Man City skipper Kompany: I never gloated about 6-1 result

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany insists he's never "milked" last season's 6-1 win at Manchester United.

City lost a 3-2 thriller at the Etihad in December thanks to Robin van Persie's last-minute winner after fighting back from 2-0 down. And nobody will ever forget their jaw-dropping 6-1 win at Old Trafford on October 23, 2011.

Yet Kompany feels none of the epic battles the rivals have had over the last four years will have any bearing on how this one plays out.

He said: "I have never been someone who has milked the result we had last year.

"Those things don't happen often. For me, it is a one-off game and everything that has happened in the past has no importance.

"It is about coming out on top in that game. I am looking forward to it and I think everyone else at Manchester City is too.

"I'm married to someone from the blue side luckily! I understand what it is about.

"I am all for the healthy rivalry. I get a lot of stick myself when it doesn't go well but I get the chance to give it out when it does.

"It is all good and friendly, that is how it should be. I am definitely not an enemy of the red side of Manchester. But I do enjoy the rivalry a lot."
