Manchester City are closely monitoring River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter.

The 21 year-old has emerged as one of Argentina's brightest young talents this season and has attracted enquiries from Atletico Madrid.

Indeed, Atletico coach Diego Simeone admitted his admiration for Kranevitter last week.

However, City are also interested and have posted scouts to watch the youngster week-to-week this season.

Kranevitter has been likened to Barcelona ace Javier Mascherano.
